COURAGEOUS, CUDDLY AND SMART
• Est. Birth: 2023
• Weight: 37 pounds
Newton came to CRCCS after having been running loose, unable to be caught for 7 months. Unfortunately, Newton had been adopted but left that home within 24 hours, only to be on his own for far too long. Although very sweet and loving, he was too nervous to completely trust humans. Now that he has settled in at the behavior center, staff are learning all the wonderful things about this boy. He is soft as cashmere and craves attention. Can’t imagine what he was feeling out there on his own for so long.
He loves engaging with his people…anything to earn a treat and a cuddle. Newt, as we call him, is gentle on leash, as he sniffs and explores. Newt has made dog friends and we are learning about the energy he prefers.
I AM REALLY GOOD AT: tricks and learning…I am doing very well at working through tough moments when I feel overwhelmed.
I AM AT MY BEST WHEN: I’m hanging out with my person, enjoying a good snuggle.
I DON’T REALLY LOVE: new things, I need to slowly work on getting used to the things I don’t know. My person will need to guide me through situations that may seem scary to me.
I NEED SOME HELP WITH: new environments. Living in a home is kind of strange to me, but I really want to try. Encountering something new can be scary for me so I need some help to understand what is safe.
WHAT I REALLY WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT ME: I am a very loving dog, and I crave affection because it is something that I really did not get to experience. I was quite the lone ranger before coming to CRCCS, and now I understand that I can trust people and settle down.
