Testimonials

What People are Saying

“Best group of dog people we’ve ever met.”

We were referred to them following crisis with my dogs and they helped us through it, quite literally saving our little girls life. She would have had to be euthanized if Kristen and Kevin had not been willing to work with us. Very caring, knowledgeable and good at teachers. They are transforming lives there, and not just dogs! I could never say enough good things about them.
– Thomas

“We’re so glad that we brought Luna to CRCCS for training.”

In couple of month we noticed a big change in her behavior. Kevin is a awesome trainer, very professional and he has a lot of patience. Everyone is so friendly at CRCCS and they really care for all the furry babies. Highly recommended!

– Regina

We adopted our dog here, Macey!”

She is such a great dog and they did a great job training her while she was there! She walks beautifully on a leash. The people there are amazing and when we take Macey to visit sometimes, they always love seeing her. I would definitely recommend this place and I would adopt from here again.

Bug
Bug

Delightful, Jolly, and Charming
• Est. Birth: 2019
• Weight: 50 pounds

This distinguished gentleman got his name because he is the ultimate LoveBug. He is an Olympic cuddler and will slide into just about anyone’s lap if given the opportunity. Bug has experience living and hanging out with other dogs, but does require a proper introduction to ensure a good match. Whether it is a backyard bbq, an adventure in the hills or simply couch time, Bug is super content to be with his people doing just about anything. Bug relishes being outdoors, chilling in the sun and investigating interesting smells. He is gentle on leash and polite in his crate. Just the perfect little Bug!

I AM REALLY GOOD AT: Slapping wet kisses on my friends.
I AM AT MY BEST WHEN: I have a routine so I know what is happening next.
I DON’T REALLY LOVE: High energy little children. They can make me nervous so I usually retreat if they make me feel unsafe. Big kids are cool.
I NEED SOME HELP WITH: meeting dog friends. Energy really matters to me, so I want a leader who can understand when I need space, and when I am ready to greet politely.
WHAT I REALLY WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT ME: I have been bounced around a little bit over the past couple of years, and I would really like to settle into my forever home. I’ll hold the couch down, lick up all the crumbs, and brighten your day with my handsome smile. I just need a chance…I’m a really good boy.

Zena
Zena

Adventurous, Curious and Spunky
• Est. Birth: 2024
• Weight: 55 pounds

Zena is a young lady who is ready to be a part of a family. She has bounced around a bit and tolerates the transition, but would benefit from having structure and routine. She is whip smart and dives into opportunities head first. She has experience living with different types of dogs, and requires a proper introduction so our team can ensure the best match. Zena has a pretty big personality and would thrive in a home that can keep up with her education. She is a sponge, so confident leadership will set this gal up for success. Zena is crate trained, very cuddly and working on polite leashed walks.  As a young shepherd (mix), her brain is always buzzing. So easy to love, Zena bonds deeply with her people and relishes time with them. She has already learned so much while spending time at CRCCS. Zena will make a fantastic addition to a family or person’s life.

I AM REALLY GOOD AT: Cuddling up to my people after a day of adventure.
I AM AT MY BEST WHEN: My handler teaches me new skills and leads me to make good decisions.
I DON’T REALLY LOVE: Strangers and strange dogs rushing up on me. I’d like to be able to understand them at my pace.
I NEED SOME HELP WITH: Introductions to new people and dogs.
WHAT I REALLY WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT ME: I’m a shepherd (mix) and I got a lot of feelings. And I just want to express them immediately. But if we get to know each other, you’ll see I am a mushy gal who would prefer to look to you for leadership. I want to grow up to be a really good girl because everyone says I’m so pretty when they reach for me. It just makes me nervous sometimes.

Ella
Ella

Happy, Goofy, and Strong
• Est. Birth: 2021
• Weight: 50 pounds

Calling all Bull Terrier lovers! This one is a gem!!!

Ella is a fun ball of energy. She loves romping in the yard, playing with her toys and basking in the sunshine. Who could ask for much more? Like many bullies out there, she is a ham. Charming with determination and tenacity. Ella would prefer to be the only pet, as she can be quite the entertainer who commands a full audience without the need for supporting characters. Everything she does is to the max, so structure and routine is recommended to keep her focused and engaged. With a healthy dose of exercise, mental stimulation and plenty of chill time, Ella will slide right into the perfect family.

I AM REALLY GOOD AT:  playing with my deflated basketball…it’s my favorite.
I AM AT MY BEST WHEN: I get to be outside, playing and enjoying the sunshine.
I DON’T REALLY LOVE: being woken up abruptly or slapped on the stomach (even gently)
I NEED SOME HELP WITH: structure and boundaries. Some may say I am a stubborn breed, but I just know what I like and what I want. Having a family or person who can help me to be a good roommate will help us build a long lasting relationship.
WHAT I REALLY WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT ME:   I LOVE people and am the friendliest girl. I want to have an active family that will play with me and run with me in the hills. I want to explore and hope I can find someone to take me on adventures.

To schedule an appointment to meet Ella and learn more about this pup, please call 775-800-1906.

Nori
Nori

Loving, Playful and Intelligent
• Est. Birth: 2021
• Weight: 50 pounds

Nori is a compact bundle of fun. She is a joy on leash as she investigates the world around her and mingles with friends. Super smart girl too! Nori loves to engage with her handler and either learn a new trick, cue or way to earn a yummy treat. Nori is always down for a good snuggle party so she can bathe in belly rubs. She is a sponge, ready to absorb whatever is presented to her. And she does so with such optimism. After a long day, she is the perfect partner to offer a warm and jubilant greeting home.

I AM REALLY GOOD AT: Connecting with new friends.
I AM AT MY BEST WHEN: We can enjoy that special time that strengthens our bond. I’m into deep relationships.
I DON’T REALLY LOVE: Some strangers are, well, strange to me. I love people, but having a strong leader who helps me to understand the relationship will give me confidence.
I NEED SOME HELP WITH: Exploring new situations so I can be successful. Though I am social and full of fun, I have my preferences. I don’t want to meet all dogs up close.
WHAT I REALLY WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT ME: I am hoping for stability and a family who will truly take time to let me be me. I am a happy girl who will bring so much joy to a family. Also, I love to learn. You show me the ropes, and I’ll be loyal and engaged.

To schedule an appointment to meet Nori and learn more about this pup, please call 775-800-1906.

Dash
Dash

Attentive, Loyal, and Active
• Est. Birth: 2020
• Weight: 45 pounds

Dash is a distinguished gentleman. We estimate Dash is a husky, border collie and pitbull fusion. We like to think he is a “super-mutt”. He has come a long way in the CRCCS programs by gaining confidence and leash manners. He loves to learn and impress his handlers. Dash definitely has an adventurous spirit as he loves to explore nature or take a dip in a river or lake on a hot day. Dash connects deeply with his people. Dash also has experience living with cats. He took a couple swipes from a very confident cat and handled it with grace. He will require respectful introductions to cats as well as dogs, yet has lived with both. Dash will benefit from a peaceful house and an adventurous family.

I am really good at: Agility and engaging with my trainers and handlers.
I am at my best when: Exploring nature with my favorite people.
I don’t really love: Loud, unexpected noises.
I need some help with: Meeting new people.
What I really want you to know about me: I have so much potential and am just waiting for someone to take a chance on a reserved guy like me. I have lived with other dogs and cats, but I am kind of hoping I can get all of my family’s attention. A routine helps me build confidence and understand what is next. Structure helps me understand the rules, and I am a very good listener.

To schedule an appointment to meet Dash and learn more about this pup, please call 775-800-1906.

Rosebud

Energetic, Silly, and Curious
• Est. Birth: May 2024
• Weight: 45 pounds

Rosebud is a blend of husky and pitbull, but we think she looks like an adorable coyote. This young lady is joyful and a bit squirrelly. We love that about her and anticipate her future family will have a blast with our little coyote. Rosebud is eager to engage and is learning the routine at CRCCS. She is ready to have someone else take the reins and guide her to becoming a super awesome dog. Rosebud will thrive with a routine, exercise, mental stimulation and confident leadership.

I am really good at: Making you smile with my zoomies.
I am at my best when: I get to be active with my people.
I don’t really love: Being the leader. I would prefer your guidance to help me make good decisions.
I need some help with: Meeting new friends. I am super curious and want to meet everyone but I am learning about “politeness”.
What I really want you to know about me: I have a lot of energy but mostly I am just excited about life and learning. I really do love to cuddle up and get lovey attention. I want to learn how to be a good partner so we can go on adventures, explore the town, meet new friends and just kick it at home. A home and a family that loves me…this would be amazing and I know I can be a good girl.

• Est. Birth: 2024
• Weight: 57 pounds

Mouse is learning connection, and he’s eager to find his rhythm in a forever home. This super sweet, bouncy guy is looking for someone who guide him to make good choices and learn how to be a well mannered boy! Since he is so young, he is highly impressionable and ready to learn! If you’re looking for a pup that you can help shape and grow with, he is the perfect pal for you!!!

I AM REALLY GOOD AT: Tricks and learning…I am doing very well at working through tough moments when I feel overwhelmed.
I AM AT MY BEST WHEN: Get to work with people who help me stay focused.
I DON’T REALLY LOVE: Laser pointers, bright reflective light, loud noise, cats…these things are so unpredictable to me.
I NEED SOME HELP WITH: Exploring new things. I am very eager but will count on your guidance.
WHAT I REALLY WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT ME: I am a very loving dog, and I crave affection because it is something that I really did not get to experience until joining CRCCS.
I want a family that understands me and is patient to teach me how to be the bestest boy possible.

Valkyrie
Valkyrie

This silly, full-of-character Mini Bull Terrier is the perfect mix of charm and spunk. At 3 years old and a compact 40 lbs, Val is a little more easygoing than your average Mini Bull — but still every bit the breed personality you’d expect.

Her favorite hobbies? Rolling in the grass, greeting dogs politely on walks, and carefully rearranging blankets to create the perfect nap nest. She’s also not shy about sharing her independent “opinions” when she’s not on board with your plans — classic bull terrier!

With her excellent temperament and playful spirit, Val is ready to be someone’s loyal copilot in life’s adventures. Could that be you?

Jasmine
Jasmine

Spunky, Exuberant, and Funny
• Est. Birth: 2021
• Weight: 64 pounds

At home, Jasmine is a total couch potato. Outside, she is ready for adventure! This adorable sweetheart is the perfect mix of laid-back and life-of-the-party. Jasmine is friendly, curious and a little silly. She loves to run, play and stay active, making her an ideal sidekick for hikes, walks or backyard games. She’d thrive with a family who can give her plenty of exercise and a fun daily routine.

When it comes to other dogs, Jasmine appreciates some guidance from her humans – but we know what works and will happily share tips! She’s very people-oriented, though she hasn’t had much experience with children. She has lived with a cat in her previous home. Every day is a new adventure for Jasmine, and she’s eager to find a loving home where she can share her joy for life.

I am really good at: Making you laugh. I’m kind of a clown.
I am at my best when: We chill on the couch together.
I don’t really love: Too much excitement all at once…I lose focus.
I need some help with: Leash manners. I get a little over-stimulated and need practice.
What I really want you to know about me: Although I love cuddle time and hanging at home, going outside gets me super-duper excited. It is so cool but overwhelming at times. Too much stimuli and I cannot focus. I really want to meet people and dogs and inspect everything but I do best with a handler who can help me adjust and process. I don’t want to scare people and other animals so please help me to learn my manners.

Duke
Duke

Brave, Good-Natured and Tenderhearted
• Est. Birth: 2021
• Weight: 85 pounds

Duke is a sweet boy and wants so badly to be your friend! Duke has a pretty easygoing temperament and is well-mannered in the car, on walks, and at home. He’s eager to be a part of a family!

Duke is a very loving boy who enjoys people and affection! With his goofy personality and eagerness to please, he makes a wonderful companion. He loves to chase the ball and go for long walks! Duke has lots of dog friends but will have a preference, so if you have another dog at home he would need to meet them first! He can live with older/calmer children who can respect his space. Duke’s genetics are that of a Cane Corso and Mastiff, so knowledge, or an openness to learning, is required. He’s a big tall handsome boy with a lot of love to give!

I AM REALLY GOOD AT: Bonding with people. Everyone tells me I am the bestest boy.
I AM AT MY BEST WHEN: I get to run free off leash. It’s fun to be silly sometimes.
I DON’T REALLY LOVE: Small, quick moving fluffy things. My brain screams “CHASE!”

WHAT I REALLY WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT ME: I’m a gentleman who longs for his own family. I became a staff and volunteer favorite almost immediately because I really do like people, and I walk so nicely on a leash. Love to get belly rubs and cuddle time. Petey is a senior male pibble who is in need of a loving home. He’s a sweet boy who would love to spend his golden years in a calm and quiet home where he can get all the love he deserves. He would do best being the only animal, and enjoy his time by being the center of attention! Petey walks with a jaunty pace, and it makes his floppy ears bounce. It is as though he trots with his own musical beats. He brings such joy to every walk and adventure. If you’re looking for a companion who will stick by your side and make you giggle, Petey is the one for you!

I AM REALLY GOOD AT: Sniffing out treats!
I AM AT MY BEST WHEN: Provided structure and clear boundaries. See, I love treats, but can get a little obsessed. So it helps me to earn my rewards.
I DON’T REALLY LOVE: Rambunctious juvenile dogs. (eye roll from this senior)
I NEED SOME HELP WITH: Meeting new people. Energy is very important to me. Having a mommy or daddy who can help me learn about safe strangers will give me confidence.
WHAT I REALLY WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT ME: Alright, I get it, I’m a little bit older than other dogs looking for a home. But I’m not ready to fully retire. This handsome boy is more than ready to be the newest addition to your family!

I AM REALLY GOOD AT: Playing with my toys. I shake them, toss them and roll on them. I enjoy a fun game of tug and will also entertain you with my favorite game, “one way fetch.”
I AM AT MY BEST WHEN: I am hanging out with my people. Chill walks or lounging around.. Also, kids are fun and I’m a real good boy with them. Big guy like me, I know my size and don’t want to hurt kids.
I DON’T REALLY LOVE: High energy, rambunctious dogs. What’s the deal? Chill out.
I NEED SOME HELP WITH: Keeping up my good manners. I’m a nice guy, and I walk well on leash. I’ve learned a lot and want to continue to explore and grow.
WHAT I REALLY WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT ME: I may look like a big mushy guy and well, I am that but I am also really smart. My caregivers freeze my meals, give me lots of toys and help me practice nosework. I like to do things that make me think. And I also like to just hang out. Sunbathing is the bee’s knees. I like to be involved in what my people are doing. Car ride, yup! Lounge on couch, big YUP! Explore, super-duper yup!!!!

Russel
Russel

That face!

Russel is learning more and more every day!

Given slow, positive exposure to new people, dogs, objects, and environments, this boy is being coached daily on what life is like in the real world!

He came to CRCCS with zero experience or exposure. Once you get to know him, he is the sweetest of boys and ultimately wants a connection with a person and to feel safe at home. He demonstrated early that he was uncomfortable with men, so he’s currently gaining positive exposure to some of the men on our team—both staff and volunteers.

Still a little unsure about new things, Russel is looking for a quiet home and a loving human willing to help him continue to grow! Don’t worry, we’ve got you! Russel comes with free behavior services, day camp, and a support crew for life (that’s us)!

To schedule an appointment to meet Russel and learn more about them, please call 775-800-1906.

Jasper
Jasper

Whimsical, Sensitive and Venturous
• Est. Birth: 2019
• Weight: 63 pounds

Jasper is a sensitive fellow who is desperately longing for his own family. He bonds deeply with people and will return the love ten fold. Jasper is a big lover of toys, stuffies don’t last long, but tough toys and balls will keep Jasper entertained for hours. Jasper loves good weather hikes and hunting lizards. It isn’t a very good habit but we all have our quirks, right? He would love nothing more than to have a family to dedicate himself to. He is always up for whatever! Lounging in the sun, hiking, or a movie marathon. You name it, Jasper’s there!

His adoption process includes training, demos, free services and more.

I AM REALLY GOOD AT: Doing whatever you want to earn a treat.
I AM AT MY BEST WHEN: Earning treats!!! I’m so good at stuff. Tricks, and commands, and prancing next to you on walks. I’m amazing at nosework. I find the treats super fast!
I DON’T REALLY LOVE: Boisterous dogs challenging me.
I NEED SOME HELP WITH: Staying focused. There are a lot of things out there that I try to understand but then I forget what I was doing, and I get lost. I’m really smart, I just need someone patient enough to lead me.
WHAT I REALLY WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT ME: I am a sensitive guy, and I feel big feelings. I do best with calm, confident leadership and structure. This makes me feel safe so I can just be me. Hoping to cozy up with my family/person soon. I just want to be someone’s best buddy.

Archie

Archie, after a lot of hard work, is now available for adoption! What an incredible transformation!

We are so proud of him! Archie was transferred to us from one of our partner shelters. Unfortunately, they could not make him available for adoption given his behavior and mental state. He was out of options and desperately needed help.

Archie came to us for a behavior assessment back in October of 2022. He was transferred to CRCCS for recovery and training in November of 2022. History unknown.

This guy has PUT IN THE WORK and it shows!! Archie is a highly intelligent and highly athletic guy! Playful, adventurous, agile. He’s fully trained on our CRCCS foundation training program and has also been put into our trick training program due to his absolute need to use his brain. It keeps him on his best behavior!

Active and looking for a loyal partner? I mean…. he’s right here!

To schedule an appointment to meet Archie and learn more about them, please call 775-800-1906.

Bella

Originally sold on Craigslist, then resold/rehomed again and again. Each home lasted anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks. It didn’t take long for the owners to realize it wasn’t a good match and the very behavior that was creating the challenge was then passed on to the next person.

It is very common for people to adopt based on look, breed, and size but it can lead to a very long and difficult road for many dogs. This was the case for Bella.

This beautiful girl is 6 years old; has completed our program and made amazing strides in her recovery! When she first arrived at CRCCS, we had mountains of work ahead of us in every area. Her journey has been nothing short of remarkable.

Bella knows our foundation behavior training and works hard to expand her social circle with both people and animals. She is now one of the most trained dogs in our facility performing a variety of tasks and tricks with verbal markers, hand signals, line signaling and more. Her vocabulary is quite extensive.

Bella is full of energy, character, opinions, and entertainment. She is extremely intelligent and will only succeed in an environment that loves to maintain structure, training, and mental engagement. She’s been waiting for her angel to appear. It’s time!

Bella is now one of our longer-term residents available for adoption. As is the case with many of our dogs, the wait isn’t due to lack of interest. It becomes about finding what Bella needs to succeed.

Dogs like Bella just need someone to stop the cycle of returns, take the time to get to know her personality and HER needs. Her next family needs to provide the proper training, so that she can succeed.

Bella has stabilized, is alive and well, trained, eager to learn more, and available for adoption. Please call 775-800-1906 Tuesday through Saturday to make an appointment to meet this sweet girl!!

Rylee
Rylee

Gleeful, Clownish and Determined
• Est. Birth: 2020
• Weight: 49 pounds

Ms. Photogenic!

Rylee is in her happy place surrounded by toys. She is sporting the most beautiful ear-to-ear smile in the facility, and is hoping to catch your eye! Isn’t she pretty?

Most. Important. Thing. Ever? THE BALL! It’s her purpose! Her passion! The ball helps Rylee get through very tough situations. It’s the secret to her success!

We’ve seen such a change in her when we use the ball as a positive tool. We’d love to show you as part of her adoption process!

Rylee has lived in multiple shelters and multiple homes. It’s time for her to find a family that will stick with her and give her the human connection she craves. She’s active and eager to get out and explore but she also knows how to hang out inside and settle in with her people. She rides well in a car and can show you the very best way to eat a puppuccino! FAST!!!!

I AM REALLY GOOD AT: Playing with my toys! But I will share and don’t mind if my toys are taken away…by people I trust.
I AM AT MY BEST WHEN: We can find a game to play together.
I DON’T REALLY LOVE: Other animals. With such a big personality, I don’t want to share the spotlight.
I NEED SOME HELP WITH: Structure and boundaries. I understand that life isn’t all fun and games (I wish), so I want a leader who helps me to regulate my emotions and energy.
WHAT I REALLY WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT ME: I am a busy-body and my mind is running full throttle. I’ve learned to focus that energy onto my toys. My trainer calls the ball my pacifier. I’d really like to have my own space, and freedom to run and be silly with my family.

Nacho may be double digits but he isn’t looking to retire. This guy is down for a good time. He loves his people and will happily entertain as well as snuggle up. Nacho walks nicely on leash with a happy-about-the-world pace. He faces everything with optimism, yet would prefer to be a solo dog in the home. His smile will brighten anyone’s gloomy day.

I AM REALLY GOOD AT: Posing for the camera. I’m a ham!
I AM AT MY BEST WHEN: I receive a perfect balance of exercise & couch time with my people.
I DON’T REALLY LOVE: High energy dogs rushing up on me.

Kairi
Kairi

In less than a year, our girl may or may not be a candidate for specialized hip surgery. Until then, it’s about pain management and providing quality of life with your presence and love and is in need of urgent hospice foster placement.

CRCCS will be by your side every step of the way, providing food, supplies, medication, support, transport, and a safe place for Kairi to stay whenever you travel.

  • Age: 4 years old
  • Weight: 115 Lbs
  • Kids: No
  • Animals: No small animals or high energy dogs

Kairi is an Alaskan Malamute. Kairi’s hip problems began at 6 months of age. Her hip sockets are gone and one hip is completely dislocated. As her disease progresses, we are diligently following the advice of our veterinarian through all the phases of Kairi’s care, pain management, various tests, x-rays, a special diet, PT, and surgery if she qualifies.

For now, a quiet, one-story home environment with a human to bond with can help. No small animals or children. No high energy dogs. She is house-trained and walks around like a normal dog but needs to refrain from using stairs, being asked to sit, climb or go up/down any inclines.

Since her new pain management regimen began, she has been doing much better. She is still her sweet, affectionate, playful self, just more relaxed and in a better mental state.

Can you help foster this girl?

To schedule an appointment to meet Kairi and learn more about this pup, please call 775-800-1906.

Cotton

Athletic and incredibly affectionate with his people. We know, he has a serious face but that’s only when he is being asked to do things, he isn’t crazy about, like pose for photos.

This kid is full of personality, a little bit stubborn, a little bit curious, and a lot of love. He loves his treats, car rides, being engaged and being active!

Cotton joined the CRCCS family from very unfortunate circumstances. His story will melt your heart and make you want to jump up and help. He has gone through our foundation training, knows all his commands, can fly through our agility course without hesitation and then asks… challenge me!?!

His ideal environment is truly all about the person. Human energy, human guidance, human patience, human consistency, these are the keys to his success. Cotton does enjoy play groups with a couple of dogs here at the center. Watching him run and feel such freedom after knowing his past, it’s the most beautiful thing.

Cotton’s ideal home will be very dog experienced and willing to partner with us here at the center for a successful transition and adoption. We’ve got your back with a variety of support services including Day camp and Sleepovers! Once you get to know this boy, you’ll see an adventurer, an athlete, a free spirit!
